PEAL’s 2026 Disability Pride Recap

This year, the PEAL Center was proud to join Disability Pride Pennsylvania (PA) celebrations across the state, including Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Harrisburg, Erie, and Washington. Each celebration allowed us to connect with families, youth, self-advocates, community partners, and others who share a commitment to building more inclusive communities.

Disability Pride PA’s mission to celebrate and empower the disability community, create joyful and accessible spaces, and advocate for disability justice closely connects with PEAL’s mission to educate and empower families so children, youth, and young adults with disabilities and special health care needs can lead rich, active lives as full members of their schools and communities. We are grateful to Disability Pride PA for welcoming PEAL into these spaces and for creating opportunities for disabled people, families, and allies to connect, celebrate, advocate, and build community together.

Thank you to Disability Pride PA, our community partners, and everyone who stopped by the PEAL table this year. We cannot wait to see our community again at Disability Pride PA next year! If your organization is hosting an event and would like the PEAL Center to table, share resources, or connect with attendees, please get in touch with [email protected].

As Outreach Coordinator, I’m proud to help amplify voices, expand access, and celebrate the strength, diversity, and pride within the disability community." - Lucille P.

"It was a great reminder of the power of community. As Communications Coordinator, I especially enjoyed connecting with people who follow our social media, visit our website, and read our newsletter. It was great to meet members of our community in person and see so many advocates come together to celebrate disability pride and inclusion." - Khaleya S.
