The first five years of a child’s life are a time of enormous growth and change, but for families who are just entering Early Intervention, they can also be a time of uncertainty. Families may be trying to make sense of concerns about development or behavior, learning a whole new system and vocabulary, and figuring out what questions to ask and what supports might help. For PEAL families, having clear, practical information early can make a real difference in helping them feel more confident, understand their options, and participate fully in decisions about their child. That is why we are expanding our focus on families of young children through a series of webinars on topics including preschool suspension and expulsion, deciding when an Early Intervention evaluation may be needed, and understanding the essential elements of a successful transition from Preschool Early Intervention to kindergarten.
We also know that families bring knowledge and perspective that systems need to hear. Beginning next year, PEAL plans to offer a family leadership cohort specifically for Early Intervention families, creating a space for families to connect with one another, build their advocacy and leadership skills, and bring their experiences into the conversations and decisions that shape Early Intervention in Pennsylvania.
At PEAL, we believe families should never have to navigate these systems alone. Whether you are just beginning your Early Intervention journey, looking for answers, or ready to use your experience to help shape what comes next, we are here to connect, inform, and support you along the way.
