PEAL Joins Governor Shapiro for Executive Order Signing Supporting Pennsylvanians with Disabilities

PEAL staff and board leadership at Governor Shapiro's executive order signing on disability protections

On April 15, Governor Josh Shapiro signed three executive orders to strengthen protections and expand support for Pennsylvanians with disabilities and autism. These actions reinforce nondiscrimination policies, strengthen data privacy protections, establish a new advisory commission, and reauthorize the Pennsylvania Developmental Disabilities Council. They build on continued investments in disability services across the Commonwealth.

PEAL's own Jackie White, Director of Outreach and Healthcare Access and Board Director Jamiel Owens, both members of the Pennsylvania Developmental Disabilities Council, were present for this important moment-instead of Our own Jackie and Board Director Jamiel Owens, both members of the Pennsylvania Developmental Disabilities Council, were present for this important moment. 

These executive orders reflect a broader commitment to ensuring people with disabilities have a voice, choice, and a seat at the table. PEAL remains committed to advancing this work and supporting families as Pennsylvania continues to move toward a more inclusive and equitable future.
